Strength is something that we all need in all areas of our lives. We all face and go through things that get the best of us and just weigh us down. And if we are the lucky ones, it is normally more than one thing at a time, right? Things that take every ounce of energy, focus, and strength that we have. Life can leave us weak, drained, and feeling depleted. And sometimes when we feel weak, we can start to feel fearful or anxious because we feel we have lost control over the situation(s) we face.
According to the dictionary strength is the quality or state of being physically strong. The capacity of an object or substance (or person) to withstand great force or pressure. A good or beneficial quality or attribute of a person or thing.
But according to the Bible, the Truth, strength is from the the Lord! Strength is a quality and attribute of God and we receive it as an inheritance from Him (2 Cor. 12:9)! We are promised and reminded of His strength all throughout scripture. In Isaiah 41:10, the Lord tells us that He is our strength and He will strengthen us! He tells us when we are at our weakest that He will increase our strength. If we wait on Him and do things according to His plan He will carry us and we will not grow weak (Is. 40:29-31).
The Bible also tells us to not be fearful of what is going on or of what may come. That we should trust in the Lord at all times and cast all of our cares and fears upon Him (1 Peter 5:7) and He will protect and sustain us (Ps. 55:22).
A Prayer For Strength
Lord, I come to You today in need of Your promised strength in my life. I know that there are areas that have drained me and brought me to my weakest point, but I trust and believe that You are my Strength in the midst of them all. I thank You that Your promises are still Yes and Amen and still stand true today. I come to You today to cast my fears and cares on You and thank You for willingly taking them for me. I thank You for keeping me and sustaining me through all of the troubles, concerns, and uncertainties in my life. That no matter what may come, You are still good and still faithful. That You still have a perfect plan and will for my life. That You are for me and not against me. Thank You for being my Rock and Shield, my Hope and Comfort. I ask for Your continued grace and strength today and everyday, in Jesus name, Amen.
In every situation, big and small, He is with us and for us. Never feel like you are ever carrying or going through something alone. You are not, He won’t let you, but you have to let Him help.
