It is amazing how quickly we will disqualify ourselves from something because of the things we (or others) have said, done, or believed in the past.
How we are so quick to say that there is someone with more capabilities, education, experience, or just better suited for the job, task, or assignment at hand than we are.
So quick to start to think of every reason of why not, why we can’t, and why we shouldn’t do it.
We are quick to think of the perfect person that they should ask instead of us when asked to do something out of our comfort zone or area of skills or expertise.
And so quick to think of what so and so is going say or think about them asking me to do this, much less me agreeing to do it.
What about how quickly we will let fear of failure, fear of man, or even fear of success get in the way. We will let it blind us of what the Lord has created us to do.
Even quicker to say, God, now You know good and well this is not my thing. You know I am not able to do this. Why would You put me in this position. You know I can’t say no to You. You have set me up.
And We Will Almost Throw It All Away
We will be willing to, in an instant, throw away an opportunity.
We’ll shut the door that we are suppose to walk through to get to the place we are praying to get to.
Maybe even kick over the ladder that He is trying to use to elevate or take us higher on.
Possibly think about tossing out the milk and honey that we have traveled so far to get to and experience.
Ultimately taking a chance that could potentially make our generations have to start back over from the beginning because we quickly let a doubt or insecurity control our response and behavior.
All because we are still learning how to accept, apply, and walk out this thing called grace. Along with His mercy and forgiveness.
We are in a continuous process of learning and understanding Him
We are still trying to understand why He wants to choose and use someone like us. There are so many better options, in our minds.
Learning and understanding how to fully walk in the fullness of our identity in Him.
Trying to comprehend the unconditional and unmerited and boundless love of the Father.
Seeking to understand what it really means to be righteous and in right standing with Him.
Still asking Him…
Me?
No, really?
Me?
Realizing that the perfect one to Him… is YOU!
As I was picking up seashells yesterday morning to take home to the kids, I dug through looking for the best looking ones, the cool and distinct ones.
And I always look for the whitest one, I don’t know why they are my favorite. Like they are the purest.
I of course found it. I was like, it’s perfect!
I love how He always gives me revelation of His love
As I was looking, the Lord gave me a reminder of how we always look for who or what we think the best pick may be, other than ourselves.
Considering ourselves the least because like the other shells, we are broken and have blemishes. We have weathered the storms and been beat up by the waves.
But even the ones that we think are perfect, they still have some type of flaw or imperfection as well.
They have been through something just like us.
Maybe not to the extent we have, or maybe they were able to handle it a little better. But they have gone through as well, we all have.
Rather a physically, emotionally, spiritually, or mentally imperfection, we all have one.
And even though we see ourselves as the ones left behind, broken, and blemished. The ones thought of as less than. He sees us as we see that perfect one.
He would pick us just as quickly as we would pick them. And He does.
Because to Him, yes, we have been through those storms. We have been tossed through the waves, drug through the sand.
And even after all that, we are still alive and still standing. Walking as if nothing happened, because He was perfecting us along the way.
And that is what makes us qualified, hand picked by Him.
And when we look closely, we all have that hole or void that we still need to fill, that only He can fill!
We Have To See Us The Way He Sees Us
So know that YOU are the chosen one. YOU are the one that is perfectly made in His image (Gen 1:27).
Not only does He choose them, but He chooses us, too!
He does not choose the qualified, He qualifies the chosen…
That it is YOU!
I encourage you to take a moment and reflect on His truths about you. On what He says about you and why He chose you and still chooses you.
Check out and read one of my first blog posts about how comparison robs us and holds us back from the fullness of who He has created us to be! And let me know what you think!
I pray you are blessed and encouraged. That you allow the Lord to show you just how special you are to Him!
